Having signed up to the C2C challenge without much thought to the effort required in training, the Team Scotland training regime began with some of us (Nik and Caroline) actually buy a bike - with only 3 months to go, probably a good idea!
Before attempting any cycling, it was necessary to integrate the bikes into our lives…this involved naming them (of course). Given 30 seconds to think about it, the girls named theirs Henry and Jim, whilst the boys weren’t so enthusiastic about this, with Rob eventually coming up with Bernard! So then it was time to actually get Henry Jim and Bernard, along with the others, out in the open and attempt a cycle!
There was no gentle easing ourselves into the cycling for Team Scotland, oh no - it was a challenging Pentlands route followed by an early morning start for a 50mile Glasgow to Edinburgh cycle along the Forth and Clyde Canal and the Union Canal, followed by a well earned relaxing beer whilst watching Scotland unsurprisingly being beaten by England in the final 6Nations match!
