This 60 mile cycle was well documented following assertions from a certain Mr Slipper that our training was no more than a jaunt to the pub, and some tall tales made up over a gin or two…so three of us set out to prove him wrong! The 4 Abbeys Route covers a 55mile circular route of the Scottish Borders – Melrose (Abbey 1) to Dryburgh (Abbey 2) to Kelso (Abbey 3) to Jedburgh (Abbey 4) and back to Melrose. We took a couple of unfortunate and rather hilly wrong turns and added at least 5 miles to that total! It all adds to the training though, well that’s what Rob convinced us after leading the girls up a mile and a half hill in the wrong direction!!
